Interview:
Radical Remission: Ten Healing Factors to Heal and Reduce Your Risk for Cancer and Other Challenges
🥗💃🏼 “The little stuff that we do in our day-to-day lives ~ are the big things that really matter.”
~Karla Mans Giroux
You will love this interview if you want to heal and live a healthy life, you know it’s possible… you’re just not sure exactly where to start and which things matter most.
Karla Mans Giroux has taken an experience that could have been a death sentence, and turned it into a wake-up-call.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer, and later metastatic breast cancer, Karla decided that that just didn’t align with her vision to live to at least 100, and you know what? She is doing what it takes to make that vision her reality. She is well on her way, with “no evidence of disease,” since 2016!
We talk about her experience as a radical remission cancer “thriver” who now teaches and supports others to heal and thrive, in partnership with Dr. Kelly Turner, author of Radical Remission and Radical Hope; and we go over the 10 healing factors that over 1,500 radical remission survivors were found to have in common. These factors are also key for health and healing for other serious conditions, as well as for continued health and thriving for healthy people.
I was so inspired by a study Karla talked about, showing how maids doing the same work had significant and measurable results simply from being more self-aware about their normal daily physical activity. I hope you are similarly inspired!
My favorite piece of this incredibly inspiring interview was Karla’s discussion about how choosing a reason to live and cultivating a spiritual connection can be powerful driving forces behind all of the other parts of the healing journey falling into place more easily. I would love to hear what your favorite story, tip or takeaway was. Let us know yours by leaving a comment!
Bio:
Karla Mans Giroux – Co-Director of the Radical Remission Project, Co-Founder of Health Navigators, A Virtual Cancer Wellness Community, and a holistic cancer health coach, educator, and speaker – is a radical remission survivor living with stable metastatic breast cancer (MBC).
Karla was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003 and underwent a mastectomy, chemo, and radiation. Eleven years later, in late 2014, she received a metastatic breast cancer diagnosis. This diagnosis did not align with her goal of living to be 100+, so she decided to do all that she could to manage this challenge.
Karla embarked on a holistic healing journey to help herself regain optimal health and longevity. With her integrative approach to healing, she is blessed to report “no evidence of disease” since 2016! Her passion has led her to share what she has learned so that everyone with a diagnosis can have a better chance of overcoming the odds.
Karla received her health coaching certification from the Wisdom of the Whole Coaching Academy as well as the Radical Remission Project and is nationally board certified by the National Board of Health & Wellness Coaches (NBHWC). She Co-Founded the Health Navigators, a Virtual Cancer Wellness Community in 2020.
As Co-Director of the Radical Remission Project, and as a Certified Radical Remission Workshop Instructor & Health Coach, it is Karla’s mission to share the powerful benefits of the Radical Remission healing factors with the world.

Interview:
Creating Peace From the Inside Out Through Conflict Transformation
⚔️🕊️ “Before you can have external peace, you must have a ‘zone of peace’ in your heart.”
~Dalai Lama (one of Valerie Mrak’s favorite quotes)
If you love peace, but need a blueprint to know how to consistently create it in your life, you will love this interview.
Valerie Mrak has figured out the empowering skills (with help from the Dalai Lama himself!) to create peace in her life and relationships.
It wasn’t always that way. When Valerie met the Dalai Lama as part of a documentary project, she was “out the door” on her relationship, and in conflict with neighbors and a colleague.
In this interview, we talk about the liberating realization that she was the common denominator, how it opened the door to her current passion helping others transform their conflicts, from gang members to everyday people, and the 5 “L’s:” steps she has distilled that anyone can follow to get there too.
I had an “aha!” moment during this interview! We had a conversation about the difference between people-pleasing and genuine peacemaking, and it was a neat moment for me. Hopefully you have a similar awakening.
My favorite pearl of wisdom from Valerie is that you don’t have to go looking for peace when peace is the organic way in which you live: and you create it wherever you go. I would love to hear what your favorite story, tip or takeaway was. Let us know yours by leaving a comment!
Bio:
Some people think of Valerie Mrak as a conflict resolution expert. But she’s not.
She is a conflict transformation specialist, who takes exhausted, frustrated relationships and helps her clients transform them into productive partnerships. She helps teams and individuals go from inaction and infighting to action and creative collaboration.
Valerie is a TEDx and international speaker, award-winning filmmaker and leadership coach who has empowered thousands across the globe to transform their business and personal relationships through creating possibility.
A bestselling author, she has been featured on radio and in publications such as the Chicago Tribune, and has more than a dozen years’ experience coaching, speaking and training.
A life-changing conversation with the Dalai Lama led her to a commitment to transform the conflict in her own life and master the principles of peace. She has interviewed six winners of the Nobel Peace Prize as well as many former gang leaders. As a result, she discovered the secrets of how to find the possibilities in impossible relationships.

Interview:
The Transformational Healing Power of Female Friendship
👩🏻🦰👱🏻♀️👩🏻🦱 ‘I really wanted to talk about what I think of as ‘grassroots healing,’ and that’s what I experienced in my friendships.’
~Christie O. Tate
You’re going to enjoy this interview if you love your friends, but like so many of us, sometimes tend to take them for granted.
Every Sunday from 4:30 to 5:30, Christie Tate is on a Zoom call with friends from high school (even if she has to take it from the back of the van on a family trip!) ~and Wednesday between 12:30 and 1:30 is reserved for coffee with her local friends.
This attention to her female friendships is an intentional choice borne from years of work, and has been incredibly rewarding.
In this interview, we talk about how as women we sometimes feel that we should naturally be good at friendship, the common pitfalls in female friendships, the rich and fulfilling benefits of making them a priority, and how exactly to go about it.
We had a candid interchange about what it’s our responsibility to do before trying to reconnect with a friendship that’s gone wrong in the past, that really spoke to me. I hope you have the same kind of healing reflection.
My favorite thing that Christie shared was how refreshing it can be to stop fighting other people’s perceptions of her, and begin to just be curious instead. I would love to hear what your favorite story, tip or takeaway was. Let us know yours by leaving a comment!
Bio:
Christie Tate is an author and essayist. Her debut memoir, Group, was a Reese's Book Club Pick and a New York Times bestseller. Her second memoir, B.F.F.-- A Memoir of Friendship Lost & Found, explores her fraught relationships with women, and the friend who guided her to more healthy connections. The Fascinating World of Animal Self-Medication, and What We Can Learn From Them About Empowerment
🐶🩺🐴🌱 “I work on instinct with taste and smell, and in my experience, it’s been the most amazing guide.”
~Caroline Ingraham
You will love this interview if you appreciate the natural approach to healing, and know that the animal kingdom has much wisdom to teach us, if we are willing to take the lesson.
Caroline Ingraham loved learning about how animals self-medicate in the wild, so much so that she founded the field of applied zoopharmacognosy and developed an individualized method of medicine.
Caroline takes the wisdom learned from the way animals innately self-medicate in the wild, and applies it to helping our domesticated animal companions, as well as men, women and children.
We discuss her experiences with animals she has helped, who had not been able to find relief anywhere else, or who veterinarians were no longer able to help, and how she went about guiding their guardians in these situations. We cover the underlying principles anyone can begin to use with their animals, as well as with themselves and their loved ones.
I was deeply moved by Caroline’s story about helping her dog after a rattlesnake bite and a vet visit that sent her home without hope. I hope you also come away with a renewed sense of what is really possible when we search for healing and don’t give up.
My favorite thought that Caroline shared is how empowered we can be to take care of our own animals, our own children, and ourselves, instead of having to rely on outside sources that may not be available when we need them ~ when we simply learn how to listen to our bodies in this beautiful way. I would love to hear what your favorite story, tip or takeaway was. Leave a comment to let us know yours!
Bio:
Caroline is a leading expert in the field of animal self-medication and founder of Applied Zoopharmacognosy and the Ingraham Method of Individualised Medicine (IMIM). She is an author, lecturer and teacher, with 38 plus years of experience in self-medication and aromatic medicine. Her work plays an important role in animal welfare and encompasses an understanding of ethology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacology in combination with animal self-medication.
Caroline works with domestic animals, as well as a wide range of other species, such as; kangaroos, polar bears, brown bears, elephants, tigers, rhinos and primates. Her work has featured in many journals and magazines and Caroline has written numerous books on animal self-medication. She has appeared on the BBC, ITV, BBC Radio 4, National Geographic TV and at the Hay Festival of Literature and Arts.

Interview:
How to Starve Cancer, and Take the Wheel of Your Own Health Journey
🧘🏼♀️🧗🏻♀️ “It’s all about starving the cancer from different routes: be it diet, be it exercise, be it supplements, be it off-label drugs… they all have an effect on starving the cancer in different ways.”
~Jane McLelland
Cancer is one of those things that people around us have VERY strong opinions about treating… and sometimes they’re conflicting! If you want the truth about how it works and what to do about it, you will love this real, raw and refreshing interview.
Jane McLelland faced not one, but TWO aggressive cancers with metastatic spread, both classified as ‘terminal,’ without community support for her belief and determination that she could recover.
24 years after being given less than a year to live, and 20 years after facing an even worse (treatment related) cancer that threatened to take her life within weeks, Jane is a thriving wife and mother, helping to educate and support patients and doctors alike, and saving lives.
We discuss Jane’s harrowing ordeals, how she took control of her story by educating herself, what she learned about the different metabolic pathways cancer uses to survive and grow, and how to effectively block them.
I was really touched by Jane’s grit and determination to do what it takes to help many more people, despite much resistance and even harsh criticism. She is a stellar example of what it means to be motivated by the kind of love and power that this “mama bear” summit is all about.
My favorite tip that Jane shared, and it’s worth mentioning that it’s in harmony with what Karla Mans Giroux of Radical Remission shared about knowing your “why,” was that it is important to surround yourself with inspiring stories of people who have achieved the results you want. Our belief, our will and reason to live goes a very long way to help everything else along.
I would love to hear what your favorite story, tip or takeaway was from this interview. Leave a comment to let us know yours!
Bio:
Jane is winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award 2019 ‘Amazing Women Global’ for unsung heroines. Awarded for Jane’s work educating and helping cancer patients since 2003.
Jane trained as a Chartered Physiotherapist, gaining a distinction in her exams and winning the Sarah Leeson Memorial Award for the most promising student. After qualifying she worked in the NHS and private practice for 12 years specialising in Neurology and then Orthopaedics when she left the profession to pursue more entrepreneurial endeavours.
In 2002 she launched a range of toiletries and a uniquely-designed waterproof book under the brand name BATHrobics and the following year she won the coveted UK Gift of the Year Award. Throughout this time (from 1994 until 2004), Jane battled two aggressive cancers with metastatic spread, both were classed as ‘terminal’.
Using her medical knowledge and researching heavily, she put together a cancer-starving formula, using natural therapies, exercise and diet. When she developed a second cancer, leukaemia, the result of chemotherapy and radiotherapy for her first cancer, she knew she only had weeks to live. With nothing to lose, she put together a unique cocktail of old drugs. To her enormous relief, joy and surprise, her cancer just ‘melted away’. Her cocktail was more powerful than she had ever hoped.
Since her remarkable recovery, Jane has been a staunch supporter of ‘off label’ drugs for cancer therapy (medicines used for other conditions than their approved licence).
Now Jane is campaigning for off-label drugs to be recognised as effective cancer treatment. She has visited parliament, helping to change legislation for ‘off patent’ and ‘off label’ drugs. She continues to push for the vast Cancer Drug Fund to be used to investigate these—something the cancer charities are failing to do.
Jane is a natural revolutionary, a powerful speaker and a brave and passionate advocate of fellow cancer sufferers. She spends much of her day coordinating cancer care for patients, researching off label drugs and providing up to date information for her thousands of followers in her Facebook group.
Jane is also a keen sportswoman, a National medallist in Karate, as well as a National and European sailing champion. What she enjoys most is mucking about with her family, especially on their boat.
Her mission: To turn the oncology profession upside down.

Understanding Emotional Eating for Empowered Health and Emotional Peace
🍔🍫 “I like to help women understand their relationship with food, because without that you’re not going to have sustainable weight loss.”
~Jessica Tomkiell
You will like this interview if you have tried diets without success, or have avoided them because you know they don’t work long-term.
When Jessica Tomkiell hit rock bottom, she was over 200 pounds, fresh out of an abusive relationship, with two children under 3 to raise herself. She reinvented herself: streamlining her life into alignment with her values, in both career and lifestyle.
In our interview, we get real about what emotional eating is, what our real underlying needs are, and how to shift these patterns in our lives for good.
Jessica expanded my idea of what mindful eating means, when she told me how she starts that when she’s at the farmer’s market or grocery store. I hope you get the same kind of refreshing new take on what food can mean in your life.
My favorite point that Jessica brought out was that learning to listen to our bodies is a simple yet powerful shift that can have a ripple effect on every area of our health and out into our children’s lives as well as the rest of the planet, through our more conscious choices. I would love to hear what your favorite story, tip or takeaway was from this interview. Leave a comment to let us know yours!
